Seattle Road Trip!

Posted on Mar 28, 2012

Josh Pfriem with owner Ian Roberts of The Pine Box in Seattle, WA

This week Josh Pfriem, our Brew Master is traveling up in the Seattle area for beer meetings.   In between these meetings Josh is stoked to be reuniting with many of his favorite craft beer industry buddies.  Some of these friends are publicans and others are fellow brewers, but one thing is for certain…all of them have dedicated their lives to craft beer in one way or another.  So as you can imagine they have a few things in common…

Good Beer + Good People = Great Relationships

Now this statement my friends, is what Craft Beer is all about – relationships.  Beer really is nothing to us at Pfriem Family Brewers if it wasn’t for the amazing friendships that transpire from a glass of great beer.

Beer can be magical in almost any circumstance whether it be an awkward first date, a blending of social circles or even just a gathering of old friends.  Normally the “magic” that takes place between beer and people happens at your local beer bar, public house, tasting room or brew pub.  We recently read an article about our neighbors Everybody’s Brewing across the river in White Salmon, WA.

They proudly state: “There aren’t any televisions in here.  No one is just staring at the wall. Normally, two people end up sitting next to each other at the bar and five minutes later they’re having a conversation.”

Yes!  Now that’s what we’re talking about! Beer is a relational beverage, not to be drunk alone or staring blindly at a television but it is meant to be shared in community with people.  This is why Pfriem Family Brewers love and brew craft beer.  It’s personal and relational and at the end of the day…it just tastes so good, right?

As the famous late publican Don Younger always said:

“It’s not about the beer — it’s about the beer!”

Cheers,

Brewmama

Laying the Brewery Floor!

Today we started laying the cement for our brewery floor!  It’s hard to believe it will only be a matter of time before we have brewing equipment standing in this space.

Stay tuned…

We are excited to be working with the Port of Hood River!  Check out this article from their WInter 2012 Newsletter.  Building and growth along the waterfront is progressing.  Pfriem Brewing is excited to be apart of this movement!

Meetings, Meetings & more Meetings!!

Posted on Mar 22, 2012

Well, it’s been a little while since we have written an update on the Brewery building progress, mostly because it seems like every time one of us turns around we are in another meeting!   There is so much to get done over the next several months before we release our beer and open our tasting room doors!

We are currently working to solidify our brand.  We have shared a little of that process with the B&W Pfriem and pF on the homepage for Pfriem Beer.  Forming our brand has been a time consuming, but awesome process for us and we think our beer drinkers will really like the end product.  Stay tuned we are excited to share this sooner than later!

The office we are working out of is also packed to the gill with samples galore: glassware, bottling line equipment pieces, label samples, tap handles, bottles, floor plans, corks, hoods, drafts of this & that, tee-shirts, hats…I’m sure I could name a handful more.  All of these samples have hours of emails and meetings wrapped around them.  Don’t get me wrong it’s fun, I mean we are opening a brewery, right?  At times it’s a bit dizzying to say the least.  Keeping everything that needs to happen in order and…oh wait, have I mentioned before – we ALL have miniatures under the age of six, therefore none of us are getting our optimal 8 hours, but who can sleep anyhow when there is a brewery that needs to be built!

All that to say, it’s busy but beautiful these days around Pfriem Brewing.  Dreams are unfolding before our very eyes, so let me share a few pictures to help you join in our journey…

Cheers,                                                                                                                            Pfriem Family Brewers
