I like beer. Don’t get me wrong. It isn’t something that has dominated my life or really affected the way I live until recently. I’ve travelled around the world and been exposed to all kinds of beer and have always found great enjoyment in it. Watching American craft beer evolve over the past couple decades has been fun to watch (and taste) from the sidelines. That said, the idea of getting into the industry, let alone starting a brewery, never crossed my mind until late last Summer.
There are several times in my life where I’ve met someone who I consider a genius at something. You know the kind I mean. The Michael Jordan for Basketball, the Jimi Hendrix for rock and roll, and the Steve Jobs for business. Last summer I met that guy for beer. We met at a preschool birthday party that our kids were invited to and we started talking about mountaineering, snowboarding, and ultimately beer. It was quite obvious that my knowledge and enthusiasm of beer barely scratched the surface of of his. A few weeks later I had the opportunity to try his beer and it changed my life. I have tried and failed to communicate how good it is on many occasions and therefore will not attempt it here. Ultimately I have realized that the only way to communicate the impact his beer has is by putting a glass of it to your lips. When you do, you will understand my newfound passion.
At the end of the day I felt as if a path had been presented to us and that it had to be taken. It has taken a while for the cogs to spin up, but it is finally happening and is happening fast. This blog will tell the journey that we’ve embarked on to create the friendships, develop a vision, and ultimately create beer that will challenge the boundaries of what is possible.
